Built in 1936 The Waldo Theatre is listed on National Registry of Historic Places. It has Greek Revival exterior and an Art Deco interior. Originally designed as a “movie-only” theater, it has superb acoustics and in recent years has been adapted for use for stage productions. The theatre requires some renovations and a campaign to “Light Up The Waldo Theatre” is in progress under the direction of a new board of directors who are committed to making the theater a vital part of Waldoboro village and surrounding towns. The goal is to re-open theater doors as soon as possible. In the meantime, a capital campaign and strategic plan for renovations are top priorities. The theater welcomes comments, visitors and especially volunteers and those who are able to contribute financially to this great community resource.
